Results Summer Auction Sales 408-409

18. - 21. June 2024 | Vienna House Remarque, Osnabrück

Dear bidders and coin enthusiasts,

The final hammer fell in our auction room this afternoon at 4:30 pm. We have thus concluded our summer auction sales with great success!

The total hammer price amounted to 8.3 million euros (not including buyers premium), 60% above the total estimate.

We would like to thank our bidders and consignors from all over the world for their loyalty and the trust they have placed in us!

As you know, we greatly appreciate the personal dialog with our customers and all others who are interested in numismatics. We were very pleased that so many bidders came to Osnabrück in person to take part in the auction. Many friends of Künker also accepted the invitation to our annual summer-barbeque. With delicious food, cool drinks and a relaxed atmosphere, the one or other anecdote from the exciting world of coins was shared well into the evening. We would be delighted to welcome many customers to our barbecue again next year (end of June) - and of course to other floor auction events.

As usual, the coins and medals from special collections were again particularly popular with our bidders. To mention just a few - the gold coins from the Archbishopric of Mainz, the pattern coins from the Coenen collection, the 19th century German coins from a private collection from the Rhineland and the special collection of pieces from the German city of Wismar. In some cases, the hammer prices were many times higher than the estimate and it was not uncommon for new record prices to be achieved. We congratulate our consignors on these impressive results!

Over and above this, coins from Habsburg and the Austrian Empire were particularly sought after. On average, the hammer price of these pieces was double the previously estimated price. The piece with the highest price of the auction also came from the Austrian Empire.

The 20 Corona piece from 1918, minted in Kremnitz under Emperor Karl I is the only gold coin issued by Austria's last emperor during his short reign in trade. This special rarity was worth € 360,000 (hammer price) to our customer. We congratulate the customer on this great addition to his collection! Auction 409, Lot 2052.

While part of our team is busy processing the shipments of the summer auction sales, our colleagues of the numismatic department are currently finalizing our next eLive Auction 83, which will go online in mid-July. The extensive offer (almost 4,000 lots) ranges from antiquity to modern times. We look forward to your participation in our eLive Auction 83 from July 22 to 26! The next floor auction will take place from September 23 to 28 in Osnabrück. Once again, you can expect special collections and selected individual items.

Best regards from Osnabrück,
Your Künker Team

PS: If you are thinking of selling individual pieces or your entire collection, please do not hesitate to contact us.
