Результаты Summer Auction Sales
20. - 24. июнь 2022 | Vienna House Remarque, Osnabrück
Dear bidders and coin enthusiasts,
On Friday, June 24, at 3 p.m. our summer auctions ended with the highest overall hammer price in the company's history for a summer auction sale. With a total estimate of approx. 7.6 million euros, the overall hammer prices added up to more than 12.8 million euros (not including Buyers Premium) !
During this exciting week, we had the pleasure of presenting several special collections, especially of German coins and medals. The auction week started with the collection "Saxonia in Nummis – The Dr. Walter Kemlein Collection" (catalog 368). The pieces from Saxony, including many rarities and top conditions, were so popular that the sum of the hammer prices ended up beeing more than double the set estimate. We congratulate the collector and his family on this great result and look forward to the second part of the Kemlein Collection, which will be auctioned soon in one of our eLive Auctions. We will inform you about this in due time.
In catalog 369, we presented the "Collection of the Berlin Sparkasse (Sparkassen-Bank of Berlin)" with a focus on Brandenburg-Prussia and the German Reich.
The highlight of the collection: A 10 Ducat Portugalöser, minted in 1584 by Joachim I in Berlin, represented the single highest hammer price of this auction week: only after an intense bidding battle the piece changed hands at an impressive hammer price of € 420.000,- !
Overall, the collection of the Sparkasse Berlin improved by 50% compared to the estimate. The proceeds of the collection will go to social and cultural institutions in Berlin. In this respect, we are pleased that we were able to support the Berlin cultural scene with the help of our auction.
Catalog 370 contained "German Gold and Silver Coins from the Annemarie and Gerd Köhlmoos Collection". Here, too, the proven principle: "What counts is quality!" was confirmed. The 745 coins were collected by the Köhlmoos family with great expertise and high quality standards. This concept paid off: here, too, the hammer prices were on average 50% higher than the estimates. We are pleased together with the Köhlmoos family about this success.
But also, the foreign coins and medals enjoyed great popularity. We want to mention three series as examples for this trend: In catalog 371 two private collections with coins from Czechoslovakia were offered. The focus was on the collection of Dr. Pavel Liska, which was supplemented by another private collection. This series of more than 100 gold coins was so popular, that the hammer prices added up to be more than 4 times the estimate. The highest hammer prices were achieved by the rare pieces of the years 1938 and 1951. The Habsburg gold coins and medals were also very popular again: here, the new owners had to bid an average of 70% above the estimate in order to be successful. At the end of the catalog we offered a special collection of pieces from Venezuela. The great interest for these pieces was reflected in the hammer price - 3 times the original estimate. For the numerous top results of this and all other series, please see the list of auction highlights below.
Once again, we can conclude: the coin market is at a very high level and the demand for coins is unbroken!
We thank our consignors and our bidders for the strong support of our auctions and the trust placed in us!
Many regards from Osnabrück,
Your Künker Team
